About Us and Our “Why”
As seasoned professionals with long career specialties in foster care, adoption, and mental health, we saw children and teens in the child welfare system struggle to thrive in foster and adoptive homes. Similarly, we witnessed many foster, adoptive and kinship families and group home/residential staff struggling to manage intensely negative and problematic behaviors and academic difficulties. Disruptions in foster and adoptive families were growing, and the resources to treat these problems were limited.

Here is what adoption professionals are saying about the Adoption Preparation Program
“Kids are talking about their past history and traumas in ways they never have before.”
“The mix of activities are great. I like being able to choose what best fits the group or youth that I am working with.”
“My youth have realized the needs they didn’t get in their birth family or previous adoptive family. Through the program, my youth have gained the understanding that it is OK to love both their birth family and their adoptive family.”
